Love and Bloody Violence

Unspoken

May 11th, 2008 by maz

Unspoken is uncertain attribution‘s second full-length song jammed with unresolved chords so large they need three hands to play, impossible Messiaenic tonalities and Bartókean structures. Blade once again shows her prowess: exhausted after the end of a long day of writing she still delivers a stunning performance, including the highly technical last verse.

Credits in chronological order of creation:

  • Lyrics: Blade
  • Composition of Chords: Maz with refinements from Blade
  • Piano: Maz (quattromani Blade for some of the really big chords)
  • Improvisation with E-bow: Maz using Bedlam
  • Composition of Melody and Vocals: Blade

Lyrics

Wait a minute
I’ve got an addiction to feed
come in out of the light
with your back turned to me
I can see you now
like you’re not really there
if I tell you a story
promise me you won’t hear

They say this too will pass
but the story’s still there
locked inside the clichés
there’s a moral somewhere
but the diving bell’s cracked
and there’s no time to breathe
it will drown with me
unspoken

I still know how to listen
lets talk about you
just buy me some time
with a riddle or two
and I’ll choke down the answers
as you head for the door
all my cryptic evasions
just fall to the floor

They say this too will pass
but the story’s still there
locked inside the clichés
there’s a moral somewhere
but the diving bell’s cracked
and there’s no time to breathe
it will drown with me
unspoken

They say this too will pass
but the story’s still there
and I feed on the fragments
that fall from your hair
and my lungs fill with glass
and the story’s complete
but it has to be
unspoken
