Love and Bloody Violence

S.H. is uncertain attribution‘s first full track. This song was composed après un rêve, between the hours of three and five in the morning of March thirtieth and refined later the same morning after some more sleep. Truly this is what Sundays are for. Today the final parts were recorded: in just two takes Blade nailed the vocals — compared to the dozens and dozens it took me to get the nasty chord changes anywhere near smooth on the guitar!

Credits in chronological order of creation:

  • Lyrics: Raven
  • Chords and Melody: Maz
  • Guitar: Maz with Bedlam
  • Vocals: Blade

Lyrics

Was there something in your past that masked you so?
So cold, so far, so perfect, so untouchable

You swear to reason and nothing more
You stand straight and true to the core
So cold, so far, so perfect, so untouchable

But I can see the child in you, the joy you can’t abide
Flashes of verve and strangeness you cannot hide
So cold, so far, so perfect, so untouchable

How to reconcile such reason with abandon
A lapse in others you don’t condone
I hold out my hand but you walk alone
So cold, so far, so perfect, so untouchable
